Dental Anxiety Support in Alcoa, TN

We understand that visiting the dentist can feel overwhelming for many patients. If you experience dental anxiety, fear, or stress before an appointment, you are not alone.

At Lyon Dental in Alcoa, TN, our team is committed to creating a calm, supportive environment where you feel comfortable, respected, and cared for throughout your visit. We also recognize the meaningful bond people share with their animals. As a lifelong dog lover and proud Belgian Malinois owner, Dr. Karina Lyon Gavrilov understands the comfort and reassurance that animals can provide in stressful situations.

That perspective is part of our broader commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care. For some patients, having an anxiety-relief or emotional support animal present can significantly improve their comfort during dental treatment. We are happy to discuss accommodations that support your needs while maintaining a safe and well-organized clinical environment.

Bringing an Emotional Support or Anxiety-Relief Animal

To ensure the best experience for all patients, emotional support or anxiety-relief animals must be arranged in advance. This allows our team to schedule your appointment appropriately and prepare a calm, controlled, and comfortable setting for your visit.

We kindly ask that all animals meet the following expectations:

  • Remain under the owner’s control at all times
  • Be properly leashed, harnessed, or secured in a carrier
  • Be clean, healthy, and well-behaved
  • Do not disrupt treatment or the comfort of other patients

Advance scheduling also allows us to account for office flow, maintain cleanliness standards, and accommodate patients with allergies or sensitivities whenever possible. For these reasons, walk-in visits with animals cannot be accommodated.

Supporting Your Comfort During Care

Every patient deserves a dental experience that feels manageable and supportive. Depending on your needs and appointment type, we may be able to offer:

  • A calm and unhurried treatment environment
  • Additional time to help you feel comfortable
  • Private treatment settings when available
  • Personalized care strategies to help reduce anxiety

Our goal is to help you feel safe and supported so you can receive the care you need with confidence and ease.

Our Commitment to a Safe and Clean Environment

Lyon Dental is committed to maintaining a clean, safe, and comfortable clinical environment for every patient. While we welcome thoughtful accommodations for anxiety-relief animals when arranged in advance, we also uphold strict standards for hygiene, safety, and patient flow.

Please note:

  • Emotional support and anxiety-relief animals are not classified as service animals under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
  • All accommodations are subject to reasonable health, safety, and behavioral requirements
  • If an animal becomes disruptive or compromises the safety or comfort of others, alternative arrangements may be required

Your Comfort Matters

Whether your comfort comes from extra time, a calm environment, or the presence of a well-behaved support animal, we are here to help make your experience as positive as possible.

If you are considering bringing an emotional support or anxiety-relief animal, contact our office before your appointment so we can coordinate the appropriate arrangements. We look forward to welcoming you and providing care that is thoughtful, respectful, and centered around your comfort from the moment you arrive.
