Emotional Support Animal Policy

You’re Not Alone—
We Understand Dental Anxiety

At Lyon Dental, we recognize that visiting the dentist can feel overwhelming for many patients. Dental anxiety is real, and you’re not alone in feeling nervous or uncertain about treatment.

Our goal is to provide a calm, supportive space where every patient feels safe, listened to, and at ease during their visit. For some of our patients, that comfort comes from an emotional support animal, and we respect that need.

Emotional Support Animals Welcome

We are proud to support patients who benefit from emotional support animals (ESAs) during their dental visits. Your comfort is an important part of your care experience. To ensure a positive environment for all patients, we kindly ask that:

  • Animals are well-behaved & under control
  • Basic cleanliness is maintained
  • Restraints (leash, harness, carrier) are used

If you plan to bring an ESA, please inform our team ahead of your appointment so we can make appropriate arrangements.

How ESAs Can Help

Having your ESA with you can make a meaningful difference in your dental experience by:

We believe patients who feel comfortable are more likely to stay consistent with their oral health care.

What to Expect

When you visit our office with your ESA, our team will do everything possible to accommodate your needs, including:

  • Noting your preference in advance
  • Providing a comfortable and calm treatment environment
  • Offering private space (when available)

Our goal is to make your experience as smooth and stress-free as possible.

Safety & Comfort for All Patients

Our office welcomes emotional support animals while upholding our responsibility to keep the environment safe, clean, and comfortable for everyone.

Please note: Under the ADA, emotional support animals are not classified as service animals. The practice reserves the right to ensure that all animals meet safety and behavior expectations. We may request adjustments if any situation affects the comfort or safety of others.
